What "supported platforms" means in VidMints

VidMints supports platforms in two ways. First, the downloader can pull a public video or its audio from a link you paste. Second, the studio can export the videos and images you create in the aspect ratios that different social networks expect. This article covers both, plus what to do when a download doesn't go through.

One rule applies to everything below: only download content you own or have the rights to use. VidMints is built for creators repurposing their own uploads, brands saving their own campaigns, and clips you are licensed to use — not for taking other people's work.

Paste a link and VidMints auto-detects the source. Supported sources include those listed below. That is 20+ sources in total. If a platform isn't listed, the link may still work or it may route you to the studio instead — but only these sources are officially supported today.

How to download a video

The flow is the same on every supported platform:

• Open the video on its original platform and copy the link (usually via the Share menu, or straight from the browser address bar).
• Paste the link into the VidMints downloader. The platform is detected automatically.
• Wait a moment while VidMints analyzes the link and lists the available qualities.
• Choose a resolution (up to 4K where the source offers it) or pick MP3 to grab audio only.
• Download the file, then optionally send it into the VidMints studio to clip, caption, or resize it.

What to expect on quality and credits

Available resolutions depend entirely on the source video — VidMints can only offer what the original upload actually contains, so a 720p source will never produce a 4K file. Standard downloads are free within your daily allowance. Higher-quality HD and 4K downloads consume credits.

Most AI studio tools (video generation, face swap, background removal, upscaling, and similar) also run on credits, and new accounts receive free credits to try them. Credits are only charged on a successful result — a render that fails is not charged, and some tools auto-refund if they can't complete.

Creating content for each platform

When you generate or edit in the studio, you can export in the aspect ratio your target platform expects: 9:16 for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts; 1:1 for square feed posts; and 16:9 for standard YouTube and landscape video. Pick the ratio before you export so captions and framing land correctly for that network.

VidMints does not post directly to social platforms. You download the finished file and upload it yourself, which keeps you in control of each platform's own caption, tagging, and scheduling.

Limitations and rights

Some content cannot be downloaded no matter what — private videos, region-locked (geo-blocked) content, age-restricted videos that require sign-in, and DRM-protected streams. VidMints can only fetch public content.

Because platforms like YouTube and Instagram actively rate-limit and challenge automated access, downloads from those sources sometimes depend on the operator having current cookies or a proxy configured on the server. When that configuration lapses or a platform tightens its defenses, some downloads may temporarily fail even though nothing is wrong with your link. These issues are usually resolved on the operator's side and are worth retrying later.

Troubleshooting a failed download

If a download doesn't complete, the message VidMints shows tells you why:

• "This post is private, rate-limited, or story-only" — the content isn't public. Try a public URL from the same creator.
• Sign-in / auth required — the platform is asking for a logged-in session the downloader doesn't have. This often clears up on its own; try again later.
• Region locked or age-restricted — the source blocks this content, and it cannot be downloaded.
• "Please try again in a moment" or a timeout — the source is slow or briefly rate-limiting. Wait and retry; YouTube in particular sometimes needs a second attempt.
• Nothing detected — double-check you copied the full video URL and that it's from a supported platform in the list above.
